lubanna african/caribbean restaurant 343 Cambridge Heath Road Bethnall Green London E2 9RA

I visited this restaurant yesterday evening with a friend.  I had Suya, dry spiced goat meat cooked with onions and tomatoes, to start with followed by an African soup with spinach served with beef.  I chose Cassava with this and also had a portion of fried dumplings.  There was plenty of food there.

The starter was excellent and spicy.  The dumplings were nice and in general the main was good though the beef was rather tough.  This does seem to be a characteristic of Nigerian restaurants in my experience.

The menu here is quite small but the dishes are well prepared and staff were certainly extremely helpful with explanations if required.  the menu is a cross between Nigerian and Caribbean.  It sells the Caribbean things like Jerk Chicken, curried goat etc and it does Nigerian food like Pepper Pot Soup, Jolof Rice etc.

This restaurant also sells a range of bottled beers including Nigerian Guinness, and a range of cocktails.

I enjoyed my meal here and would give the place an over all value of 7.  It does lose a mark for that slightly tough beef but I would recommend it as the food is generally fresh and of good quality.
